Be Still

“Be still and know that I am God.” ~ Psalm 46:10

As I get older, I have decided that I need to re-learn how to be still.

I wonder how many beautiful blessings I have blown by like a speeding car blows by a flower. I have been so busy for so long, it is almost painful to me when I am not working hard, running fast, making progress, doing something productive.

Can you relate?

My busyness implies that I have become more of a “human doing” than a “human being”. Perhaps I’ve forgotten that there is only one God, and I am not He.

I believe in God. I trust Jesus for my eternal security. I believe the Holy Spirit, “the Comforter” gives me power to live as a traveler through earth, on my way home.

……but do I KNOW that He is God?

In the book of 2 Kings, we read that God spoke to Elijah in a “still, small voice”. If I expect to hear a still small voice, I’m going to have to turn down the wind noise in my own life.

I bet I’m not the only one.
